Think of the FZ2500 as Panasonic's answer to the not-yet-released-nor-even-announced Sony RX10 Mark III: with what just may very well be the identical 20.1mp 1" Sony sensor, the FZ2500 improves upon the Sony with a true, built-in, 3-position ND filter; excellent touch screen interface; superior remote app; and 10-bit 4:2:2 internal 4k recording - yes 4K, not the usual HD. It shares the RX10 III's 24mm (full frame equivalent) bottom end focal length when in 1080 (it rises to 31mm when you record in 4K), but it does give up some top end (480mm vs 600mm for the RX10 III in 1080, 496mm in 4K). On the other hand, as of October 2016, the FZ2500 is FOUR HUNDRED dollars cheaper. Wow. I'm trying to get my hands on one now.
